Fleuron™ MFD-USF is a next-generation soft material engineered for demanding microfluidic and organ-on-chip applications. Designed as a superior alternative to PDMS, MFD-USF combines capillary-scale resolution, optical clarity, and chemical stability with the ease of standard soft-lithography workflows.

MFD-USF enables fabrication of capillary-scale microfluidic channels (1–10 µm) while maintaining the rapid prototyping capabilities researchers expect from PDMS. Unlike PDMS, Fleuron™ exhibits negligible absorption of small hydrophobic molecules, making it particularly well-suited for drug screening, pharmacology studies, and quantitative biological assays.

The material is biocompatible, compatible with organic solvents, and withstands harsh sterilization processes, enabling reliable use in advanced biological experiments and microphysiological systems.

Starter Kit includes:

  1. Fleuron™ MFD-USF (100g)
  2. Fleuron™ adhesion promoter (50g)
  3. Dev-10 Developer (100g)

MFD-USF can be casted to a patterned mold, cured, released and sealed to a substrate to form an enclosed microfluidic device. The material and the adhesion promoter come in uncured, viscous liquid form.

Axoft’s engineering team can assist with the design and fabrication of custom Fleuron™ microfluidic devices tailored to your application.

FEATURE

Neglible small molecule absorption:

Fleuron™ MFD-USF provides negligible absorption of small hydrophobic molecules. Image shows  a fluid containing Rhodamine B (orange), that mimics a drug molecule, flowing through an array of microfluidic channels made from Fleuron™ and PDMS.

FEATURE

Compatible with soft-lithography:

Enables rapid prototyping- design to device in one working day.

FEATURE

Precise control over channel dimensions:

Easily create channels that resemble the body's own vascular system.

Benefits:
  • Easy fabrication + capillary-scale channels as a drop-in replacement for PDMS.
  • Accurate dose-response data without material-induced drug loss.
  • Crisp 3D imaging of invasion, barrier function, and morphology – 70% less haze than PDMS.
  • Test pharmaceutical compounds without reformulation or chip failure.
  • Increased chip reusability by cleaning them with harsh solvents.
Key Features:
Negligible Small Molecule Absorption
Unlike PDMS, which absorbs hydrophobic drugs that can affect dose-response accuracy, Fleuron™ preserves true drug concentrations for reliable PK/PD screening.
Compatible with “Soft-Lithography” Fabrication Protocols
Fleuron™ is fully compatible with the gold standard rapid prototyping associated with PDMS microfluidic devices. Our material can be casted onto a mold to produce a working prototype within one day.
High Resolution, Multilayer Channels
Capillary length scale (~1-10 µm) channels can be formed. Additional multilayer, complex structures can be designed to facilitate the complexity of a biological system.
Resistant to Organic Solvents
Applicable for diverse drug formulations, prevents device degradation, expanding cleaning and sterilization processes. Can be used for on-chip microsphere and nanoparticle production via O/W emulsification with solvent evaporation.
Superior Optical Performance
Combines low refractive index (1.38), low hazing (0.24%), and minimal auto-fluorescence to deliver publication-quality of imaging in thick OOC models.
Biocompatible & Gas Permeable
Enables cellular growth without added cytotoxicity. Provides sufficient permeability for the exchange of gases to promote optimal cellular growth conditions.
